A historic day for True North high school sports with six titles within 24 hours
What a day to be a Titan.
On Thursday, April 23, True North Athletics delivered a performance that will be remembered as one of the most remarkable single days in school history.
In a span of just a few hours, the Titans captured six championships, a feat that speaks volumes about the culture, preparation and relentless pursuit of excellence embedded within the program.
It wasn’t just a good day. It was a defining one.
The momentum began on the tennis courts, where both the boys’ and girls’ programs continued their dominance at the regional level. The boys’ team set the tone early with a commanding 5-0 victory over Ransom Everglades, securing its fifth consecutive 1A region title. Not to be outdone, the girls’ tennis team delivered one of the most thrilling moments of the day. After falling to Riviera Prep just a week prior in the district finals, the Titans flipped the script in dramatic fashion, battling back to claim a 3-2 victory and their fifth straight 1A region title.
Then on the gridiron, the True North girls’ flag football team, ranked second in the region, shut out Archbishop Carroll 24-0 to secure its third consecutive 1A district championship. The defense was suffocating, the offense efficient, another example of a program that continues to set the standard year after year.
Meanwhile, inside the gym, the boys’ volleyball team, ranked second in the state, added to the growing trophy collection. With composure and control, the Titans defeated Ransom Everglades in straight sets (3-0), earning their fourth consecutive District 15-1A title. Their consistency and execution throughout the match reflected a team that knows how to win and expects to.
On the track, history was also made. The girls’ track & field team continued its upward trajectory, capturing its second consecutive district championship behind a well-rounded team performance. Not far behind, the boys’ track & field team etched its own place in the record books, securing the first district title in program history, a milestone moment that underscores the rapid growth of True North athletics.
One day. Six titles.
As historic as the day was, it also reflects something even bigger happening within True North athletics -- the development of student athletes beyond the high school level. This senior class has set a new standard, with 17 student-athletes committed to continuing their careers at the next level across football, baseball, track & field, and beach volleyball in college.
Among them are 7 Division I athletes, 3 Division II, 4 Division III, and 3 NAIA signees -- a remarkable accomplishment for a program still in its infancy. This achievement not only highlights the talent within the program, but also the commitment to development, exposure and preparing student-athletes for opportunities beyond high school.
True North Athletic Director Shawn Ramirez wrote: “For a school with just three graduating classes, the results are undeniable. Championships are being won, history is being made and futures are being built...all at the same time. April 23rd wasn’t just about championships. It was about identity. It was about what it means to be a Titan.”
