This week, we continue a feature where we ask you to vote for the best high school varsity performer of the week (in Broward and Miami-Dade counties).
This week includes nominees from high school softball, track & field and boys’ volleyball.

Lydia Berent, Cardinal Gibbons softball: the senior was the winning pitcher, allowing two runs (zero earned) on five hits and two walks, while striking out 20 in 10 innings as the Chiefs edged Coral Springs Charter 3-2 for the district title.
Nyla Christian, Plantation track & field: the senior won two first-place medals at regionals, winning the 100 Hurdles (14.10 seconds) and the Long Jump (19-feet, 10.75-inches) in Miramar.
Manuel Cueva, Divine Savior boys’ volleyball: the senior setter had 20 assists, 3 kills and 1 block in a 3-set win over Chaminade-Madonna and 24 assists and 10 digs in a 3-set win over JC Bermudez as the Sharks advanced to their second consecutive region final.
Keviana Dickenson, Dillard track & field: the senior was the 100 M region champ (11.82 seconds) and was part of the region winning 4x100 relay team (46.52) as Dillard won the region team championship in Miramar.
Lamayah Howard, Miami Northwestern track & field: the junior was the region champion in the 400 Hurdles (1 minute and 1.99 seconds) and was part of the region winning 4x400 relay team (3:48.39) as the Bulls were region team runners-up in Miramar.
Jaime Saavedra, Belen Jesuit track & field: the sophomore won a region title in the javelin to help the Wolverines win their third consecutive region team championship. His winning throw was 184-feet, 10-inches in Miramar.
O’Hara Tommie, Northeast track & field: the senior won three events at regionals in Miramar by finishing first in 100 Hurdles (14.39 seconds), Long Jump (23-feet, 5.5-inches) and Triple Jump (48-feet, 7.25-inches) as Northeast placed fourth overall.
