Aston Gould of the Ransom Everglades boys’ water polo team is the Miami Herald Athlete of the Week for Week 27.
The junior scored the winner in overtime as the Raiders came from behind to edge St. Thomas Aquinas 12-11.
It was a battle of the top two teams in the state, making Gould’s goal even bigger.
Other nominees were: Billy Essig, Belen Jesuit volleyball; Lucas Albert, Gulliver Prep lacrosse; Sophia Kingston, Gulliver Prep water polo; Charlie Friguls, Columbus volleyball; Marcos Sanchez, True North volleyball; Marcelo Mantecon, Belen Jesuit track & field; and Kevin Muñoz, Southwest volleyball.
