Skylar Flowers of the Cooper City girls’ water polo team is the Miami Herald Athlete of the Week for Week 25.

At the Venice Tournament, the junior had 11 goals in a win over Gainesville and 4 goals in a win over Venice. She also had 9 goals in a win over Riviera Beach Suncoast and 8 goals in a win over Jupiter.

Other nominees were: Kayley Garcia, Hialeah Gardens softball; Lucas Riva, Columbus boys’ volleyball; Michael Acosta, South Miami baseball; Caleb Hernandez, Doral Academy baseball; Mikeria Miller, Miami Edison flag football; Tristan Sainz, Somerset Pembroke Pines wrestling; Keagan Mesina, Mater Lakes Academy wrestling.
