Palmer Trinity’s Baur scores 100th goal. True North wrestling makes history. Plus more

Scarlett Baur, a senior on the Palmer Trinity girls’ soccer team, scored her 100th career goal as the Falcons (12-2-1) defeated visiting Somerset Academy Homestead 8-0.

Later, she added two more goals in a 5-1 victory over Carrollton and another in a 3-0 win over LaSalle to give her 103 goals and counting.

Her uncle, Craig (class of 1985), totaled 104 goals in his high school soccer career for Palmer Trinity.

Scarlett Baur, a Miami Herald All-Dade Girls’ Soccer Player of the Year as a freshman, made Miami Herald All-Dade first team honors from 2022-25. She will play college soccer at NCAA Division I Northeastern University in Boston.

Wrestling

The True North boys’ wrestling team made school history by winning the program’s first district title in finishing first at the District 16-1A Duals at Key West High School.

Participating Schools: Killian, Sunset, Florida Christian, Westminster Christian, Coral Shores, Marathon, Key West, True North.

In the opening round, the upper bracket saw Key West dominate Marathon 81-0, while Coral Shores beat Killian 41-16. On the lower bracket, Westminster Christian cruised past Sunset 72-6, and True North defeated Florida Christian 58-23.

In the semifinals, Key West edged Coral Shores 41-36 in a tightly contested matchup that was determined in the final match. On the opposite side of the bracket, True North beat Westminster Christian 48-33 with a strong all-around performance.

In the finals, True North capped off an impressive tournament by defeating Key West 48-36.

True North and Key West advance to regionals, where True North will face Miami Central, and Key West will battle SLAM.

More wrestling

The Somerset Academy Pembroke Pines boys’ wrestling team was missing six key starters but still placed third at the Clay Rotary Tournament in Green Cove Springs.

Sidney Katz continued his undefeated season by winning the 165-pound title in a tough bracket to also earn Outstanding Wrestler honors. Teammates Darion Shannon (150) and Mateo Martinez (190) recorded all first period pins to win their respective weight class.

Other placers were: 106 Avner Ayzerov 5th; 120 Samuel Junco 3rd; 138 Dylan Fernandez 3rd; 144 Marlo Jimenez 4th; 175 Eli Diaz 3rd; 215 Sage Suarez 2nd.

The Archbishop McCarthy boys’ wrestling team won the second annual Catholic Bowl Duals Tournament at St. Thomas Aquinas High School in Fort Lauderdale.

Cardinal Gibbons was second, and host St. Thomas Aquinas third. Columbus and Fort Myers Bishop Verot also competed.

Missing nearly half its line up and only entering six wrestlers, the Stoneman Douglas girls’ wrestling team placed third of 25 teams at the Bulldog Brawl at South Broward High School in Hollywood.

The Eagles were just five points from runner-up Western. North Miami, led by Danetchy Janvier (105) and Suzie Polidor (130), finished first. For Western, Tiffany Francisco (100) and Kaylee Padin (110) won titles.

Ariana Blanc (170) and Addison McMahon (115) each placed first for the Eagles. Teammate Samantha DeGance (135) was second. Kaylee Barthel (110) was third, and Lily Torres (125) fourth.
