Miami Herald High School Athlete of the Week 16: Rayna Benoit of North Miami

Rayna Benoit of the North Miami girls’ basketball team is the Miami Herald Athlete of the Week for Week 16.

The sophomore set a school record by making 10-of-11 3-pointers as the Pioneers defeated Miami Beach 94-17. She finished with game-high 45 points. She also scored 23 points with 5-of-7 3-pointers in a win over Gulliver Prep and 21 more in a victory over Mater Academy, ranked 11th in Miami and 59th in Florida.

Other nominees were: Cecilia Rodriguez, Lourdes soccer; Kingley Cospolite, Miami Beach soccer; Isabella Aversa, LaSalle basketball; Gabriel Alonso, Dade Christian basketball; Samantha De Gance, Stoneman Douglas wrestling; and Peter Mocco, Cardinal Gibbons wrestling.
