Poll: Vote for the Miami Herald High School Athlete of the Week (7)
This week, we continue a feature where we ask you to vote for the best high school varsity performer of the week (in Broward and Miami-Dade counties).
This week includes nominees from high school bowling, cross-country, football, golf, volleyball, and swimming.
Take our poll below to cast your vote. The poll will be open until Thursday, Oct. 16 at around 10 p.m. You may vote as often as you like until then.

Cole Durham, Ransom Everglades golf: the freshman won the Miami-Dade Youth Fair Boys’ Invitational with a 3-under par 67 at the Country Club of Miami (East Course). He also led the Raiders to the team title, besting 20 Miami-Dade County (private and public) high school boys’ teams.
Amelia Gomez, Florida Christian School volleyball: the junior totaled 25 kills, 31 digs and 4 aces to help the Patriots win their tournament while winning every set against Coral Reef, Palmetto. Reagan and TERRA.
Jan Gonzalez, Braddock bowling: the senior scored the highest game (248) and highest series (633) of any bowler competing in the match against undefeated Ferguson.
Marcelo Mantecon, Belen Jesuit cross-country: for the second consecutive season, the junior won the Race of Champions at the 26th annual Great American Cross-Country Festival in Cary, North Carolina. He was first of 380 runners in 14 minutes 39 seconds.
Eduardo Marin, Columbus golf: the junior shot even-par 72 to win the annual Catholic School Quad Match at Eagle Trace Golf Club in Coral Springs. He carded three birdies in the 18-hole match, leading the Explorers to their first team title of the season.
Esha Nagalla, Ransom Everglades golf: the freshman won the Miami-Dade Youth Fair Girls’ Invitational with an even par 70 at the Country Club of Miami (East Course). She also led the Raiders to the team title, besting 11 other Miami-Dade County high school girls’ teams.
Allison Pedroso, Coral Reef volleyball: the senior led the Barracudas to their first GMAC title since 2017 by beating MAST 2-0 and TERRA 2-0 and edging Coral Gables 2-1. For the tournament, she totaled 28 kills, 7 digs, 4 aces and 3 blocks. Five days earlier, Coral Reef lost to Coral Gables.
Isabella Sangha, St. Thomas Aquinas volleyball: the senior led the Raiders to the BCAA Big 8 Tournament title, their 28th in history. She recorded 8 kills and 3 blocks in the finals against Chaminade-Madonna. In BCAA Big 8 wins over Pembroke Pines Charter and Cypress Bay, she combined for 14 kills and 5 blocks
Samantha Sears, Coral Gables swimming: the senior won the 100 back to help the Cavaliers girls’ team defeat Reagan and Palmetto.
Will Secola, Archbishop Carroll football: the senior was outstanding on offense and defense in a road win over previously undefeated Westminster Christian. He rushed for 87 yards on 22 carries and scored the game’s only touchdown. On defense, he made a key fourth down stop on the goal line.
