This week, we continue a feature where we ask you to vote for the best high school varsity performer of the week (in Broward and Miami-Dade counties).
This week includes nominees from high school bowling, cross-country, football, golf, and volleyball.

Josh Carmichael, St. Brendan football: the senior totaled 3 touchdowns (2 on offense and 1 on defense) in one half as weather washed away the second half with the Sabres defeating Hialeah Gardens. He had 2 catches for 61 yards and 1 TD and ran for 34 yards on 2 carries with 1 TD. He also returned an interception 102 yards for a score and made 2 tackles.
Harper Kiss, Pine Crest golf: the 7th grader was the top local girls’ finisher, placing third at 1-under 70, just one shot from first at the Palm League Championship at Biltmore Golf Club in Coral Gables
Marcelo Mantecon, Belen Jesuit cross-country: the junior crossed the finish line in a meet-record 14 minutes 35 seconds—a personal best, the fastest time in Florida history and the win—at the Southern Showcase Invitational in Huntsville, Alabama. In an elite field, the Wolverins placed third.
Justin Matias, Archbishop Carroll football: the sophomore carried the ball 10 times for 164 yards and 3 touchdowns as the Bulldogs defeated West Palm Beach Oxbridge Academy.
Sara Moreno, LaSalle volleyball: the senior recorded 10 kills, 1 block, 25 digs, and 3 aces as the Royal Lions defeated Ransom Everglades in 4 sets.
Jesus Prieto, Ferguson bowling: the senior had a high game of 246 pins and the high series at 687 as the Falcons improved to 6-0 with a win over ATM.
Lilly Riegger, American Heritage golf: the senior won the Back To School Classic with 69 over 18 holes on the Pines Course at the Pompano Golf Club in Pompano Beach, while leading the Patriots to the team title.
