For the second consecutive season, Sohan Patel of the Plantation American Heritage boys’ golf team finished first at the 42nd annual Morrison Invitational High School Golf Tournament at the Pompano Beach Golf Club.
Patel, the 2024 Miami Herald Boys’ Golfer of the Year, shot an impressive 9-under par 63.
North Palm Beach Benjamin School won the team title with a 13-under par 275. They were led by Brooks Colton (66); Clint Lewis (69); Charlie Woods (70); Andrew Tsar (70); Maurice Hoben (70).
In a close battle for second, Fort Lauderdale Pine Crest (290) was the runner-up, followed by Coral Springs Charter (291), Plantation American Heritage (292) and Southwest Ranches Archbishop McCarthy (302).
Other noteworthy individuals scoring par or under include Finn Foster of Pine Crest (67); Liam Johnston of Pompano Beach (68); Jonathan Weinberg of Pine Crest (68); Sarp Gurdogan of Delray Beach American Heritage (70); Brad Chamberlain of Fort Lauderdale St. Thomas Aquinas (71); Kolton Viveros of Coral Springs Charter (72); and Brookman Tyrer of Plantation American Heritage (72).
*The Belen Jesuit boys’ golf team traveled to Lakeland for the 2025 Jenkins Invitational at Cleveland Heights Golf Course.
The Wolverines fielded two teams, placing third and 17th of 23 teams. All five players of Team A finished with rounds in the 70s, led by a personal best 1-over 73 by junior Matthew Gonzalez. Senior teammate Daniel Garcia followed closely at 2-over 74. Sophomores Marley Caudle (+6, 78) and Beckett Castro (+7, 79) and junior Ryan Nieto ‘27 (+7, 79) rounded out the solid day on the course.
Team B continues to improve with sophomore Marco Machado, juniors Benjamin Liguori, Ralphy Villoldo and Lorenzo Magarino, and 7th grader Thomas Zur putting in the work.

Cross-country
The Doral Academy girls’ and boys’ cross-country teams competed at the 12th annual Florida Horse Park XC Invitational in Ocala. The girls placed fourth of 53 teams, and the boys were 13th of 60 teams.
Leading the way for the girls was sophomore Nicole Lewis, who finished seventh of 345 runners in 18 minutes 59.9 seconds. Senior Julieta Baudini placed 24th in 19:46.
For the boys, junior Martin Fernandez was 24th of 420 runners in 16:20.3. Senior teammate Victor Pedreira placed 42nd in 16:33.7.

Football
The Miami Archbishop Carroll football team earned its first win of the season with a 49-14 victory over Miami SmartEn Academy.
The Bulldogs (1-0-1) amassed 431 yards rushing on 51 carries and 7 rushing touchdowns. Justin Matias led the Bulldogs with 138 yards rushing on 15 carries. Marcelo Carrion added 129 yards on 17 carries and 2 touchdowns.
Dylan Galadza had 3 rushing touchdowns.
Defensively, Archbishop Carroll was keyed by Isaiah Suarez, Josh Velez and Kendrick Pembleton. They combined for 3 sacks, 3 forced fumbles and 3 fumble recoveries.
For the first time in five seasons, Varela defeated Ferguson 13-6.
Mason Santos totaled 137 yards and 1 touchdown. Rubier Oliva made 16 tackles and forced 2 fumbles, and Jonathan Mercado added a touchdown and recroded 7 tackles.
Swimming
