Poll: Vote for the Miami Herald High School Athlete of the Week (2)

This week, we continue a feature from last season where we ask you to vote for the best performer of the week (in Broward and Miami-Dade counties). The school season is underway for 2025-26, and this week features nominees from high school bowling, cross-country, football, golf, and volleyball.

Take our poll below to cast your vote. The poll will be open until Thursday, Sept. 11 at around 10 p.m. You may vote as often as you like until then.

Angelie Brito, Ferguson bowling: the freshman had a high game of 212 and a high series of 589 to lead the Falcons over Coral Gables.

Marley Caudle, Belen Jesuit golf: the sophomore shot 79-81 at the prestigious Brophy Rodeo, presented by Ping at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Arizona. He then followed up with 78 at the Westminster Christian School Invitational at the Biltmore Golf Course in Coral Gables and a 79 to help the Wolverines win the 2025 AMDG Cup against Tampa Jesuit in Howey-in-the-Hills, Florida at Mission Inn Resort- El Campéon Golf Course.

Petra Compton, Carrollton golf: the junior scored 2-under 35 (including three consecutive birdies) to lead the Cyclones over Ransom Everglades and Doral Academy in a 9-hole match at the Biltmore Golf Course in Coral Gables.

Cole Durham, Ransom Everglades golf: the freshman fired 1-over 72 to tie for second while leading the Raiders to the team title at the 26th Annual Westminster Christian School Invitational at Biltmore Golf Course in Coral Gables.

Daniel Fernandez Jr., Westminster Christian football: the senior outside linebacker had 5 tackles (4 for loss), 3 sacks and 2 forced fumbles in a win over Somerset Academy South Homestead.

Martin Fernandez, Doral Academy cross-country: the junior ran 16 minutes 51.3 seconds to win the Palmer Trinity Cross-Country Invitational in Palmetto Bay. He led the Firebirds to the team title.

Nicholas Gobel, St. Brendan football: the senior quarterback was 13-of-19 passing for 136 yards and 3 TDs and also added a 2-point run in a 28-17 win over Miami Beach.

Amelia Gomez, Florida Christian School volleyball: the junior totaled 25 kills and 26 digs combined in wins over Downtown Doral and Miami Country Day.

Nicole Lewis, Doral Academy cross-country: the sophomore ran 19 minutes 28.6 seconds to win the Palmer Trinity Cross-Country Invitational in Palmetto Bay. He led the Firebirds to the team title.

Trevor Tingle, Miami Palmetto golf: the senior shot 2-under 69 to win the 26th Annual Westminster Christian School Invitational at Biltmore Golf Course in Coral Gables.
