The Ransom Everglades boys’ golf team won the 26th Annual Westminster Christian School Invitational at Biltmore Golf Course in Coral Gables.
This marks the team’s fourth title in this prestigious event (’2018, 2022, 2024, 2025).
The tournament featured some of the finest boys’ golf programs from across South Florida, with strong representation from Miami-Dade, Broward, Lee, and Palm Beach counties. A long, demanding course layout, lightning-fast greens, and searing mid-90s heat made for a true test of skill and resilience.
The Raiders rose to the challenge and delivered an outstanding team performance, led by Cole Durham (1-over 72); Navraj Suri (2-over 73); Hugo Stenstrom (3-over 74); and Matteo Bloom (4-over 75).
Senior Trevor Tingle of Miami Palmetto won medalist honors, besting the field with 2-under par 69. Junior Cole Laffere of True North, senior Matthew Hernandez of Florida Christian and Durham tied for second at 1-over 72.

More golf
The Belen Jesuit boys’ golf team kicked off the season at the Brophy Rodeo, presented by Ping at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Arizona.
The Wolverines were led by juniors Matthew Gonzalez (79-80) and Ryan Nieto (87-76) and sophomore Marley Caudle (79-81) each with a round in the 70’s as they had to battle temperatures that reached 110 degrees in the desert. Also, senior Daniel Garcia (80-83) and sophomores Beckett Castro (86-81) and Marco Machado (87-89).
Belen finished with rounds of 324-318 (642) for 14th of 19 teams and 116 players.
The Wolverines had a quick turnaround and days later competed at the Westminster Christian School Invitational at the Biltmore Golf Course in Coral Gables (also see above).
Belen was led by Ryan Nieto (77), Beckett Castro (77) and Marley Caudle (78) each with a round in the 70’s as the team faced another round in the heat. Matthew Gonzalez shot 80, and Daniel Garcia 81. The Wolverines finished with an improved team score 312, good for sixth of 14 teams and 74 players.
Belen continued its golfing journey for 2025, competing in Howey-in-the-Hills, Florida at Mission Inn Resort- El Campéon Golf Course for the 2025 AMDG Cup against Tampa Jesuit.
Belen scored 321 to capture the AMDG Cup for the third time in four years. The Wolverines were led by Matthew Gonzalez (77) and Marley Caudle (79), each shooting in the 70’s. Daniel Garcia (81), Beckett Castro (84) and Marco Machado (85) also helped in the win.
Others playing for Belen were sophomores Benjamin Liguori, Noah Levy, Ralphy Villoldo, and Lorenzo Magarino and freshman Lucas Alvarez.
In girls’ golf, Carrollton defeated Ransom Everglades 148-156 and Doral Academy 148-160 in a 9-hole match at the Biltmore Golf Course in Coral Gables.
Carrollton (4-0) was led by an impressive 2-under par by Petra Compton, who finished with three consecutive birdies. Four players tied for seconnd, shooting 2-over 37. They were Fernanda Carrion (Carrollton), Tatyana Villegas (Doral), Ella Wester (Ransom), and Nina Fischer (Ransom).
Alexandra Marin (Carrollton), Megan Nieto (Carrollton) and Diya Bhatt (Doral) tied for sixth with 4-over 39. Esha Nagalla (Ransom) was ninth at 5-over 40 and Aabell Tellez 10th at 6-over 41.
Cross-country
The Doral Academy boys’ and girls’ cross-country teams swept the Palmer Trinity Cross-Country Invitational in Palmetto Bay.
For the girls, sophomore Nicole Lewis was first in 19 minutes 28.6 seconds, followed by her sister Megan Lewis, a senior, who placed second in 20:44. The Firebirds (with 20 points) had four runners in the top 5 and eight in the top 15.
True North was the runner-up at 94 points, followed by Carrollton at 99 and Mater Academy at 111.
Doral Academy senior Julieta Baudini was third in 20:47.6, and True North 8th grader Lauren Martinez-Lejarza was fourth in 20:51.3.
For the boys, junior Martin Fernandez won in 16:51.3. Senior Victor Pedreira placed second in 17:06. The Firebirds with 23 points had eight runners in the top 15.
Ransom Everglades was second at 62 and Divine Savior third at 110. Coral Shores fourth at 140, two point better than AIE Charter.
Ransom Everglades freshman Ivan LeFrak was third in 17:31.6, and senior teammate Nelson Manstein fourth in 17:43.
Volleyball
The Westminster Christian girls’ volleyball team, playing in the top National Bracket, went 3-0 in pool play on day one of the Nike Tournament of Champions in Gainesville.
Westminster Christian beat Hoover (Alabama) 25-21, 25-14 in the opener. Then the Warriors edged Middleburg 25-19, 22-25, 15-13 and came from behind to defeat Tampa Berkley 18-25, 25-18, 15-13.
Westminster Christian advanced to the Platinum Division, where the Warriors lost to nationally-ranked Cornerstone Christian (Texas) 25-17, 25-15.
The eight schools that advanced to the Platinum Division are (National MaxPreps Rankings): Westminster Christian, Clearwater Calvary Christian, Winter Park, No.2 Mater Dei (California), No.6 Pace Academy (Georgia), No.22 Cornerstone Christian (Texas), Tampa Plant and Carrollwood Day.
More volleyball
The True North girls’ volleyball team defeated host Miami Palmetto 25-21, 25-20, 12-25, 25-15.
This marked the first meeting between the two programs.
Standout players were juniors Dayleen Valdes and Veronica Fumero and seniors Bianca Gomez and Olivia Pardo.

The Ferguson boys’ bowling team defeated Coral Gables 7-0 to start the season 2-0.
High games from seniors Remy Dou (221), Jesus Prieto (259), Miguel Brito (194), Rashawn Viart (239) and junior Lexander Perdomo (184) and high series Jesús Prieto (664). High game and high series for Coral Gables from Alejandro Garcia (203/552). The Ferguson girls’ bowling team also won 7-0 over Coral Gables for its second consecutive win. High game and high series by freshman Angelie Brito (212/589).
