Poll: Vote for the Miami Herald High School Athlete of the Week (1)
This week, we continue a feature from last season where we ask you to vote for the best performer of the week (in Broward and Miami-Dade counties). The school season is underway for 2025-26, and this week features nominees from high school bowling, cross-country, football, golf, and volleyball.
Take our poll below to cast your vote. The poll will be open until Thursday, Sept. 4 at around 10 p.m. You may vote as often as you like until then.

Noah Alce, Miami Ransom Everglades football: the sophomore had 24 carries for 142 yards and 2 touchdowns and also made 4 catches for 35 yards in a 21-0 win over Coconut Creek North Broward Prep.
Sebastian Eterovic, Miami Columbus golf: the freshman tied for third at 73 for the runner-up Explorers at the 27th annual American Heritage High School Boys’ Golf Tournament at Lago Mar Country Club in Plantation.
Alex Gonzalez, Miami LaSalle volleyball: the junior had 3 aces, 5 kills, 1 block, and 5 digs in a 3-set victory over Don Soffer (Aventura) and 1 ace, 12 kills and 13 digs in a 3-set win over Miami Carrollton.
Ayden Jaouhar, Pompano Beach football: the senior had six receptions for 130 yards and ran the ball eight times for 78 more yards, while scoring four touchdowns (2 rushing/2 receiving) and adding a 2-point conversion in a 48-33 win over Marathon.
Marcelo Mantecon, Miami Belen cross-country: the junior, who is ranked No.2 nationally, took the individual title for the champion Wolverines by besting 342 runners in a meet-record 14 minutes 50 seconds at the Cecil Field Invitational in Jacksonville — shattering the previous mark by more than 10 seconds.
Marisa Mantecon, Miami Lourdes cross-country: the freshman placed 19th of 303 runners in 19:30 to lead the runner-up Bobcats at the Cecil Field Invitational in Jacksonville.
Sohan Patel, Plantation American Heritage golf: the junior tied for third at 73 to lead the third place Patriots at the 27th annual American Heritage High School Boys’ Golf Tournament at Lago Mar Country Club in Plantation.
Lexander Perdomo, Miami Ferguson bowling: the junior had the high series (625) and a high game (236) to lead the Falcons over Miami Gulliver Prep 7-0.
Dayleen Valdes, Miami True North volleyball: the junior had 17 kills, 7 digs and 3 aces in a 3-set win over Miami Coral Reef and 9 kills, 6 aces and 6 digs in a 3-set win over Miami Carrollton.
Skye Williams, Miami Florida Christian volleyball: the senior had 26 kills to help lead the Patriots in a come-from-behind, 5-set win over Miami Palmer Trinity. She had 12 kills in a 3-set victory over Miami Archbishop Carroll.
