Bowling preview: Triplets preparing for final season at Ferguson

The Ferguson bowling team is set to experience one final year of the Jaramillo triplets, who are now seniors.

There’s Emma Jaramillo, who is second on the Ferguson girls’ team with a 138 average. She made first-team All-Dade last year and has helped Ferguson win three straight district titles.

There’s Dylan Jaramillo, who is sixth on Ferguson’s boys’ team with a 166 average.

And there’s Isabella Jaramillo, who is fourth on Ferguson’s girls’ team with a 125 average. Last year, she was part of the rotation. This year, she has been named a full-time starter.

Falcons coach Marcela Del Rosario said all three triplets are valuable members of her team.

“Dylan has come up clutch a few times when we’ve needed him,” Del Rosario said. “Emma is my anchor, and Isabella has gotten a lot stronger. I think Emma and Isabella will both be among the county’s top-10 female bowlers.”

Here’s the sad part of this triplet story: After this year, they will likely split up for different colleges.

Dylan – who started the family’s bowling trend when he picked up the sport as an eighth-grader – plans to leave for Daytona Beach to attend Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. His goal is to become an astronaut.

Isabella, who wants to work with horses as a veterinarian, plans to attend Emory and Henry University in Virginia.

Emma will stay local as her goal is to study mechanical engineering at FIU.

“It will be hard not seeing each other every day,” said Dylan, looking ahead to 2026.

His sisters agree.

“It will be different because we’ve always been together,” Emma said. “I think we’ll be fine. We can always call each other.”

Added Isabella: “We will have to adjust.”

That adjustment, though, is several months away.

For now, the triplets – who all have weighted grade-point averages over 4.0 -- will focus on the 2025 season, and the same can be said for their teammates.

The Ferguson boys last year failed to make the district finals for the first time since 2021.

This year, though, the Ferguson boys are deep and experienced as their top six bowlers are comprised of five seniors and one junior. Ferguson also has three bowlers who are averaging over 200: junior Lexander Perdomo (204); and seniors Remy Dou (202) and Rashan Viart (201).

Dou made it to state last year as an individual.

Miguel Brito (183 average) is another top Ferguson senior.

Another Ferguson bowler to watch is senior Jesus Prieto, who has increased his average from 160 to 190.

“He’s gone from practicing one or twice a week,” Del Rosario said, “to now practicing three or four times per week.”

On Ferguson’s girls’ team, the bright hope is freshman Angelie Brito, who leads the squad with a 160 average.

“She’s a dedicated bowler,” Del Rosario said. “By the time she’s a senior, she will be top-five in the state.”

Other top Ferguson bowlers on the girls’ team include: senior Nathalia Salvat (135 average); and sophomores Lily Berardinelli (115) and Jaiiene Villanueva (115).

Belen is led by four seniors who have been on the team since their freshman seasons: Michael Pena (185 average); AJ Lowell (172); Ryan Solares (170); and William Allen (160). Those seniors will attempt to lead Belen to its third straight district title.
