Results are in. St. Thomas Aquinas lacrosse standout voted Miami Herald High School Athlete of the Week

Fort Lauderdale St. Thomas Aquinas boys’ lacrosse player Diego Salazar is the Miami Herald’s High School Athlete of the Week, as voted on by readers in our weekly poll.

The junior scored seven goals to lead the Raiders to the FHSAA state championship with a 13-4 victory over Ponte Vedra. It marked the fourth state title for St. Thomas Aquinas in boys’ lacrosse.

Gabriel Carr, Sunset track & field; Lauren Kettlewell, Divine Savior tennis; Remy Goins, Columbus track & field; Tiago Socarras, Belen Jesuit track & field; Grace Aldrich, Carrollton track & field; Arianna Garcia, Carrollton track & field; Tyra Cox, Northwestern track & field; Lauren Kirby, Somerset Academy track & field; Savita Bagirathan, Stoneman Douglas tennis; Alexia Reid, Dillard track & field; Rakyia Louis, Miami Edison flag football; and Alexa Schwartz, North Broward Prep track & field; rounded out the nominees.

The Miami Herald Athlete of the Week poll opens Sunday every week and closes around 10 p.m. Thursday.
