Miami Coral Reef girls’ track & field athlete Samantha Ruiz is the Miami Herald’s High School Athlete of the Week, as voted on by readers in our weekly poll.
The senior recently won GMAC track & field titles in the 1,600 meters (5:18.36) and 3,200 meters (11:32.57) events. She is a former GMAC champion in cross-country, too.
Gigi Khoury, Miami Westminster Christian softball; Ava Alvarez, Miami Palmetto flag football; Cayden Boozer, Miami Columbus basketball; Tyra Cox, Miami Northwestern track & field; Remington Goins, Columbus track & field; Michael Larionov, Miami Palmetto tennis; J’Vari Flowers, Miami Northwestern track & field; and Isabella Benton, Plantation American Heritage softball rounded out the nominees.
