Miami Gulliver Prep girls’ water polo player Sofia Beltran is the Miami Herald’s High School Athlete of the Week, as voted on by readers in our weekly poll.

The freshman had 7 blocks, 1 assist and 1 steal to lead the Raiders (21-1) over Miami Mater Lakes Academy..

Madelyn Althage, Miami Carrollton softball; Emely Ramirez, Miami Braddock softball; Max Spears, Davie Western boys’ volleyball; Joel Jobi, Coral Springs boys’ volleyball; Yeison Gonzalez, Miami Reagan boys’ volleyball; and Kaley Dyer, Miami Westminster Christian softball rounded out the nominees.

The Miami Herald Athlete of the Week poll opens Sunday every week and closes around 10 p.m. Thursday.
