Miami Southridge wrestler Abigail Gonzalez is the Miami Herald’s High School Athlete of the Week, as voted on by readers in our weekly poll.

The freshman won an FHSAA state title at 110 pounds, going 4-0 at state in Kissimmee to complete the season at 35-1 for the Top 10 finishing Spartans.

Elijah Castanon, Miami Christian School wrestling; Michael Sainz, Pembroke Pines Somerset wrestling; Mya Bethel, North Miami wrestling; Cameron Boozer, Miami Columbus basketball; Damian Soto, Miami Mater Lakes Academy wrestling; Kaleb Corbitt, Pompano Blanche Ely basketball; Elvis Solis, Homestead South Dade wrestling; Illia Kyryianenko, Hollywood South Broward wrestling; and Christian Yeargin, Fort Lauderdale Stranahan basketball rounded out the nominees.

The Miami Herald Athlete of the Week poll opens Sunday every week and closes around 10 p.m. Thursday.
