Results are in. Lourdes soccer standout voted Herald High School Athlete of the Week

Miami Lourdes girls’ soccer player Veronica Aguilar is the Miami Herald’s High School Athlete of the Week, as voted on by readers in our weekly poll.

The sophomore had 2 goals and 1 assist in a district semifinal win for the Bobcats (12-1-2) over Miami Mater Academy Charter and a hat trick (3 goals) in a district final win over Miami Varela.

That marked the 20th consecutive district title for the Lourdes girls’ soccer team.

Brooklyn Schiffrin, Miami Palmer Trinity soccer; Nicholas Marques, Davie NSU University soccer; Alexis Bennetot, Miami Florida Christian soccer; Valentina Mangles, Miami LaSalle soccer; Juliana Soto, Plantation American Heritage soccer; Thiago Marchisone, Miami Beach soccer; Elvis Solis, Homestead South Dade wrestling; Keagan Mesina, Miami Mater Lakes Academy wrestling; and Sydney Wilson, Miami High basketball rounded out the nominees.

The Miami Herald Athlete of the Week poll opens Sunday every week and closes around 10 p.m. Thursday.
