Miami Palmer Trinity girls’ basketball player Sofia Laria is the Miami Herald’s High School Athlete of the Week, as voted on by readers in our weekly poll.

The freshman guard scored 33 points and grabbed 16 rebounds in the Falcons’ upset win over Miami Mater Lakes Academy 67-56.

Isabella Escobar, Miami Florida Christian soccer; Angel Lara, Miami Coral Park basketball; Dwight Carter, Miami Northwestern basketball; Vanessa Vancott, Miami Mater Lakes Academy basketball; David Leiva, Parkland Stoneman Douglas wrestling; Liam Lesentier, Miami MAST Academy basketball; Cameron Boozer, Miami Columbus basketball; J’adore Hayes, North Miami basketball; and Dylan McKeon, Coral Springs wrestling rounded out the participants in this week’s poll.

The Miami Herald Athlete of the Week poll opens Sunday every week and closes around 10 p.m. Thursday.
