Soccer
Michael Moreno, who took over the girls’ soccer coaching reigns at Miami Killian this season, is doing his best to keep the team existing, growing, after falling apart last season with no wins.
The Cougars fielded 11 players (some games less) as he recruited girls in school to complete the roster -- some with zero prior playing experience. Analuisa Alvesabreu is not one of them. This junior striker played prior, and it showed.
Coach Moreno noted via email: “Even though she had a team filled with players with no prior experience, she has been able to be competitive in scoring. [She played 11 of 14 games, scoring 17 goals].
“She’s got an incredible leg. Her most impressive goals were free kicks. I believe she’s done that about three times this season -- soared the ball right underneath the crossbar. She’s an incredible player and deserves some recognition for her talents.”
Thus some recognition for her talents this season.
Note: Killian is 5-9 this season with wins over Sunset 4-1, Homestead 2-1, North Miami 3-1, Reagan (forfeit) and Miami High 5-1.
