Poll: Who should be the Miami Herald’s High School Athlete of the Week? (Dec. 23)
South Florida’s top athletes were recognized last week in the sports of basketball and soccer.
This week, we continue a feature where we ask you to vote for the best performer of the week from basketball and soccer in Broward and Miami-Dade counties.

▪ Emma Azar, Miami Krop soccer: she scored both goals in a 2-1 win over Miami Hialeah Gardens, two goals in a 5-1 win over Miami Norland and one goal in a 3-0 win over Miami High.
▪ Josiah Brooks, Miami COHEA basketball: the 8th grader had 26 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists against the nation’s No.1-ranked Columbus in a 82-61 loss; 16 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists in a 58-54 win over Miami Belen Jesuit; and 25 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists, and 2 blocks in a 66-60 win over Miami Coral Gables.
▪ Judnel Francois, Deerfield Beach soccer: the junior scored both goals in a 2-0 victory over Coconut Creek Monarch.
▪ Omer Gan-El, Miami Krop soccer: the junior scored twice in a 8-0 win over Miami Norland and once in a 3-0 win over Miami Hialeah Gardens.
▪ Nicholas Marquez, Davie NSU University soccer: the senior scored twice in a 3-0 victory over Pembroke Pines Somerset Academy.
▪ Andrea Mazin, Miami Lourdes soccer: the senior scored the winner in a 1-0 victory over Southwest Ranches Archbishop McCarthy.
▪ Kosta Raicevic, Miami Dade Christian basketball: the senior averaged 20 points and 13.6 rebounds in wins over Miami Mater Brickell Academy (79-33) and Ransom Everglades (68-43) and a loss to Miami Central (68-57).
▪ Isabella Sangha, Fort Lauderdale Pine Crest basketball: the junior scored 27 points with 14 rebounds and 4 blocks in a 34-31 win over Boca Raton St. Andrew’s.
▪ Stephanie Vega, Miami Doral Academy basketball: the junior scored 31 points (1-2 3-ptrs) with 5 rebounds and 1 steal in a 54-49 win over Miami Southridge.
▪ Tomas Visintini, Miami Beach soccer: in San Diego, the senior scored the winner in a 1-0 victory over Torrey Pines, a 10-time state champion in California, and had two goals in a 3-1 victory over California St. Augustine, ranked No.7 nationally.
