Columbus bowling coach Scholer steps down. True North football wins. Plus basketball and soccer
After 35 seasons as boys’ bowling coach at Miami Columbus, Adam Scholer decided to step down.
During that long run, the Explorers won a team state championship in 1999. Also, Robert MacKarvich won an individual state title in 2003.
Columbus recorded 12 consecutive undefeated seasons with 16 district championships and several GMAC and Miami-Dade Youth Fair titles.
The Explorers, who were runners-up at GMAC in 2024, advanced to state again, placing 17th there.
In one season in the past, four of five Miami Herald All-Dade first team bowlers were from Columbus.
Scholer is an advocate of publicity for high school bowlers, helping continue the sport in South Florida.
He wrote: “It has been an incredible run, and I’m grateful for the opportunity.”
