Results are in. Coral Gables runner Donner voted Herald High School Athlete of the Week
Coral Gables girls’ cross-country runner Avril Donner is the Miami Herald’s High School Athlete of the Week, as voted on by readers in our weekly poll.
Donner, a junior, helped the Cavaliers win the team championship by winning the individual title at the 305 Cross-Country Classic at Larry & Penny Thompson Park in Miami. She scaled the 3.1-mile course in 19:52, finishing first of 109 female runners.
Miami Ferguson bowler Briana Canahuate and Rashawn Viart, Key Biscayne MAST Academy golfer Alfonso Goyeneche, Miami Columbus golfer Joseph Fernandez, Miami Carrollton swimmer Isabelle Wilson, Miami Springs golfer Gia Culler-Guerra, Doral Divine Savior runner Mateo Sotelo, Doral Reagan volleyball player Jennifer Buaiz, Hollywood Chaminade-Madonna volleyball player Anzhelika Yakzhina, and Miami Mourning volleyball player Violette Zayas rounded out the participants in this week’s poll.
The Miami Herald Football and Athlete of the Week polls open Sunday every week and close around 10 p.m. Thursday.
