American Heritage, Sohan Patel excel in golf. Plus bowling, volleyball, swimming and more

Sophomore Sohan Patel of Plantation-American Heritage fired 3-under 69, finishing second at the 24th American Heritage Boys’ Golf Invitational at Lago Mar Country Club in Plantation.

Patel and senior Pavel Tsar of North Palm Beach-Benjamin actually tied at 69, but Tsar won on a playoff hole. That marks the third consecutive time Tsar won this invitational.

Junior teammate Jake Valentine scored 1-under 71 for third place, and he, Pavel Tsar, Charlie Woods, Brooks Colton and Andrew Tsar led the Buccaneers to the team title.

Benjamin scored 286, followed by runners-up Plantation-American Heritage and Columbus, each at 302.

Golfers played from the longest tees at 7,036 yards and had to contend with wet conditions which made for a very long day.
