Boys’ volleyball
The American Heritage-Plantation boys’ volleyball team defeated Monsignor Edward Pace 26-24, 25-17, 25-21. In each set, the Patriots came from behind to secure the win.
More importnatly, it was an ACE for Autism match in support of Autism Awareness Month. The volleyball team and the school’s Building Blocks Club (BBC) partnered to raise awareness and funds for South Florida Autism Charter School (SFACS).
Danny Fernandez, a student from SFACS, attended the game. He met the team, was the honorary captain and sang the National Anthem.
Between ticket sales and a bake sale, they raised more than $1,100 to support SFACS.
This gesture by the Patriots and BBC was truly the “win” of the night. The money raised will help support SFACS athletics as they have a basketball team, a cheerleading team and a dance team.
