True North baseball beats American Heritage again, and Palmer Trinity softball wins by walk-off
The True North Classical Academy baseball team edged host American Heritage-Plantation 2-1.
It marked the second consecutive season True North defeated the Patriots. The Titans are coached by Adrian Nieto, who helped American Heritage win state and national titles during his playing days.
True North took a 1-0 lead in the top of the second inning. American Heritage evened things in the bottom of the third. The Titans scored the winning run in the top of the fourth.
True North received standout pitching performances from winning pitcher Alan Soler, Samuel Alonso (hold) and Matias Fischer (save), while American Heritage countered with solid efforts from Antonio Turco-Rivas and Chase Curtiss.

Softball
The Palmer Trinity softball team won in a walk-off fashion over Pine Crest 5-4.
Trailing 4-1, Pine Crest rallied, scoring one in the top of the fifth and two in the sixth to even things, setting the stage for the Falcons to win it in the bottom of the seventh.
Mela Fajardo drove in Callie Crews with the winning run, and pitcher Hailey Rodriguez recorded her first win.
In an exciting battle, Goleman edged Hialeah-Miami Lakes 10-9. Trailing 9-3, Goleman scored three times in the bottom of the fifth and two more in the sixth. Behind 9-8, Goleman rallied again for two more runs, winning in a walk-off.
In Broward, South Plantation and St. Thomas Aquinas needed nine innings to determine a winner in a wild contest, and the Paladins prevailed 9-8.
Tied at four, St. Thomas Aquinas scored three times in the top of the eighth, but the Paladins responded with three runs to force another extra inning. The Raiders plated a run, but South Plantation won it walk-off style with two runs in that bottom of the ninth.
Trailing 4-1, St. Thomas Aquinas rallied with a run in the sixth and two more in the seventh to force extra innings.
Stoneman Douglas pitcher Addison Zajkowski tossed a shutout, striking out 12 while allowing two hits and two walks in a 2-0 win over King’s Academy-West Palm Beach.
Cardinal Gibbons pitcher Lydia Berent also struck out 12 in a shutout win over Monarch.
