Chaminade-Madonna, Mater Lakes, Somerset reach 10 wins in soccer. A tie, Gulliver is now 18-0-1

The Chaminade-Madonna girls’ soccer team reached the 10-win mark, after defeating South Broward 4-2.

This is Coach Adalberto Jordan’s second season at Chaminade-Madonna. The Lions already improved from last season (4-11-1).

In the past 13 seasons, this is the first time they’ve reached 10 wins, and it’s the team’s first winning season since 2012-13 at 5-2-2.

Annabelle Rhodes, a junior striker, helps lead Chaminade-Madonna with 21 goals and 8 assists in 15 games. As a sophomore, she was selected Miami Herald All-Broward third team.

In boys’ soccer, American Heritage-Plantation and St. Thomas Aquinas played to a tie with each side scoring a goal in the second half.

Cooper City and Western also played to a tie at one. The Cowboys scored in the first half, and Western evened things in the second half. Prior, Cooper City shut out Pembroke Pines Charter with a goal in each half, and South Broward and Olympic Heights-Boca Raton ended in a draw.

In another tough battle, St. Thomas Aquinas edged Cypress Bay 1-0.

Don Soffer Aventura reached the 10-win mark with three more victories, all by shutout. The Barracudas lost just once (to Divine Savior) in their past nine games, while totaling eight shutouts. Palmer Trinity snapped Divine Savior’s nine-match unbeaten streak with a 2-1 victory.

Mater Lakes Academy and Somerset-Pembroke Pines each won its 10th game of the season, and after going 0-15, Hollywood Hills kept battling and thus recorded a tie against Hallandale and its first win of the season against Chaminade-Madonna.

After going 18-0, Gulliver Prep ended the regular season with a tie against Downtown Doral; so the Raiders are still unbeaten.
