Lourdes girls’ basketball and girls’ soccer teams each improved to 9-1 with that Bobcats’ soccer team earning a hard fought 1-0 victory over Doral Academy.

Basketball

After dropping its first two games of the season (to Palmetto and Hebrew Academy), the Westwood Christian boys’ basketball team have won five consecutive, the latest a victory over Archbishop Coleman Carroll.

Golf

Belen Jesuit junior Lorenzo Rodriguez, the 2023 FHSAA state champion in Class 2A golf, won a qualifier at the Biltmore Golf Club in Coral Gables for the prestigious 60th annual Junior Orange Bowl International Golf Championship, which will be Jan 2-6, 2024 also at the Biltmore Golf Club.

Belen golfer Lorenzo Rodriguez became the first individual state golf champion from Miami-Dade County since 2001 on Wednesday afternoon at Mission Inn Resort & Club at Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla.

He shot a 140 (73-67) in the two-day event, besting a field of 15 golfers. He was four shots better than runners-up Tristan Williams and Cameron Baez, and his 67 was the top score/round of the qualifier.
