Can’t make the trip to Tallahassee to watch the state football finals?

For the first time in years, that won’t be a problem for people who live in South Florida and want to watch them on TV.

Bally Sports announced this week it will broadcast and stream the state football championships Dec. 7-9 as part of a partnership with the Florida High School Athletic Association.

The nine games will air on Bally Sports Florida or Bally Sports Sun and all will stream live in the Bally Sports app and at BallySports.com.

The state football finals will be played at Ken Riley Field at Bragg Memorial Stadium on the campus of Florida A&M University in Tallahassee. The games will kick off at 10 a.m., 3 p.m. and 8 p.m. each of the three days. The FHSAA has yet to announce specific times and days for each classification.

For nearly a decade, the state finals have only been available either via live streaming online or on broadcast networks that were not available to viewers in the South Florida area, drawing the ire of many fans who wanted to see the various Miami-Dade and Broward teams that advance to the finals.

Dade and Broward teams swept all four Metro classification championships last season with two of those games involving a Dade team facing a Broward team. There is a strong possibility once again that one or even two South Florida teams could end up playing in multiple championship games in the four Metro classifications.

Even before the state’s Metro-Suburban realignment, at least five Dade and Broward teams advanced to the finals in the three previous seasons with that number peaking with seven state champions from the area in 2019. Since 2010, at least four teams from Dade or Broward have advanced to the state finals each year.

“Florida is the hotbed for the best high school football talent, and we’re thrilled to showcase the top teams and student-athletes from across the state on Bally Sports through this new partnership with the FHSAA,” said Steve Tello, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Bally Sports Florida and Bally Sports Sun in a press release.
