Doral Academy sophomore golfer Isabella Russo won the District 16-3A indiividual title while helping the Firebirds take the girls’ team title.

Russo shot 70.

Junior teammate Maria Quintero also fared well, scoring 73 for runner-up honors, and junior Mia Caraballo was just two strokes back for third in a Top 3 Doral finish.

Regionals are next.

Speaking of regionals, Divine Savior’s boys’ and girls’ golf teams qualified for regionals by each placing third at the District 15-1A Tournament at Eagle Trace Golf Club in Coral Springs.

Nicole Sardinha led the Sharks by firing 74 to capture the individual district title. She helped the girls’ team reach regionals for the first time in school history.

On the boys’ side, Divine Savior’s Ignacio Asin shot 76 to earn runner-up status.

More district golf

The American Heritage golf program in Plantation continues to shine.

The Patriots’ girls’ golf team won the District 15-2A Championship at Jensen Beach Country Club.

Senior Katherine Schaefer was the individual champion, and freshman Aryanah Ahmad was the runner-up to lead Heritage. Eighth graders Nicole Wu and Laura Monsalve finished in the top 8. Senior Alessandra Tabora placed sixth.

Schaefer and Tabora played high school golf at Heriatge four years, and they’ve been part of four district championship teams.

The boys’ team competed at Winston Trails in Boynton Beach. Freshman Sohan Patel shot 2-under par 70 to win his second consecutive district title. He helped lead the Patriots to a runner-up finish.

Bowling

The Belen Jesuit boys’ bowling team won the District 16 Championship to qualify for state.

Belen junior Enrique Groso won the individual district title, and junior teammate Brian Iglesias was runner-up to lead the Wolverines. Sophmore Ryan Solares placed sixth, and sophmore William Allen was seventh to assist in the winning effort.

Also on the team are senior Frank Sanchez and sophomores Alexander Lowell and Michael Peña. They are coached by Danny Delgado and Javier Cantens.

In District 17, Ferguson swept team titles in boys’ and girls’ bowling. They swept GMAC, too, and the girls’ team also won the Miami-Dade Youth Fair Tournament.

Swimming

The Gulliver Prep girls’ swim team won the District 12-2A title under the direction of Head Coach Nick Folker and Coach Katya Gakhokidze.

Volleyball

District 15-4A Championship: LaSalle d. MAST 25-23, 25-20, 25-20: Helen Montilla 1 ace, 9 kills, 1 dig; Grace Blanco 8 aces, 6 kills, 13 digs; Sofia Dean 2 aces, 10 assists, 8 digs; Lara Potente 1 ace, 7 kills, 4 digs. LaS (9-11).

Region 4-3A Semifinal: Ransom Everglades d. Westminster Academy 25-23, 25-11, 13-25, 25-21: Julia Lewkowitz 25 kills, 13 digs, 2 aces; Mian Jean Claude 12 kills, 4 aces; Kennedy Hagen 12 kills, 3 blocks; Stephanie Wallen 28 assists. RE (25-5).

Football

Dylan Gonzalez, a junior, ran for 242 yards and five touchdowns on 22 carries as Florida Christian defeated ABF Academy-Homestead 50-22.

Florida Christian 50, ABF Academy 22: Junior teammate James Raposo added 16 yards and a score on three carries. Offensive linemen Luke Alexander, Timothy Gallardo, Zach James, Brandon Knowles, and Ricardo Rios keyed the rushing attack.

Raposo also made four tackles, and Corey Ammons, Nathaniel Escoto and Luke Leonard each had an interception. Micah Robinson scored on a fumble return, and kicker Krystian Nacier was 5-of-6 on extra points and 1-of-1 on field goals. Hector Oliverra and Seth Porch caused fumbles, and Armando Polier recovered a fumble. Porch also had a sack. FC (3-6).
