St. Brendan swimming doing well. Plus Archbishop Carroll football, Southwest bowling and more

The St. Brendan swim program is doing well.

The Sabres had some outstanding performances against Riviera Prep.

In girls, the St. Brendan 200 medley relay (Tatiana Loo, Valentina Perez Falcon, Victoria Corrales, Emma Otero) was first in 2:22.30. In the 200 free, Isabella Salazar was the winner in 2:49.18, and teammate Karina Santamaria was runner-up in 2:53.71.

In the 200 IM, Victoria Corrales was first in 2:39.10, and teammate Tatiana Loo placed first in the 100 back in 1:19.23. The 400 free relay (Tatiana Loo, Isabella Salazar, Victoria Corrales, Jezebel Davila) won, too, in 4:43.07.

On the boys’ side, St. Brendan’s Andriy Huertas won the 100 breast in 1:06.23 and placed first in the 500 free at 5:16.00. Richard Navarro was also a double winner in individual action, finishing first in the 100 fly in 1:01.00 and in the 100 back in 57.01.

Navarro and Huertas teamed with Mathew Corrales and Ty Kilayko to finish second in the 200 medley relay in 1:57.00. In the 400 free relay, Navarro, Huertas, Corrales, and Kilayko was runner-up in 3:55.20.

In the 50 free, Nicholas Salgado was runner-up in 29.97, and in the 100 back, Erik Somoza was second in 1:09.50.

Team results: GIRLS: St. Brendan 95, Riviera Prep 47; BOYS: St. Brendan 92, Riviera Prep 42.

St. Brendan recently competed against Krop at Victory Pool, and there were more standout swimmers for the Sabres.

In boys, Richard Navarro was first in the 100 fly at 58.01 seconds and first in the 100 back at 59.96. Teammate Andriy Huertas won the 500 free in 5:24.00 and also won the 100 breast in 1:07.03.

Erik Somoza was first in the 200 free at 2:17.14 and second in the 100 back in 1:08.30. The Sabres 200 medley relay and 400 free relay teams each finished first.

In girls, Tatiana Loo was first in the 100 back at 1:20.04 and second in the 200 IM at 2:56.30. The 200 medley relay, 200 free relay and 400 free relay each placed second.

Team results: GIRLS: Krop 90, St. Brendan 66. BOYS: Krop 77, St. Brendan 71.

Bowling

The Southwest boys’ bowling team improved to 7-2 with a 5-2 victory over Belen Jesuit.

Football

Archbishop Carroll 49, Somerset South-Homestead 14 at Harris Field: Running back Alejandro Isaza led the attack with 186 yards and 5 touchdowns on 9 carries. His longest touchdown was 70 yards. Carroll rushed for 421 yards and 7 touchdowns on 29 carries. Defensively, the Bulldogs received solid performances from defensive lineman Jesse Hinojosa and Ivan Quesada. Each player had 4 tackles and a sack. AC (5-1), Som (3-4).
