Jovani Solis, an 8th grader at Somerset Academy (Pembroke Pines), won the Florida Super 32 Challenge in a tough weight class (126 pounds) at Osceola High School in Kissimmee.

There were at least four high school state champions in that weight division, including Solis, who won last season as a 7th grader at 113 pounds in Class 1A for state runner-up Somerset. He competed against older, high school-aged wrestlers at that FHSAA state meet last season and the recent Super 32.

By winning the Florida Super 32, this top-notch wrestler qualified for the prestigious Super 32 Nationals in North Carolina in October. He will compete in the middle school division.

Solis, 14, is coached by Joe Blasucci at Somerset Academy. He also trains at Gladiator Wrestling Club.
