Miami Dr. Krop’s football team is seeking a district title three-peat.

Hollywood South Broward is looking to win its first since 1997 and second in school history.

Friday’s clash between the two sides was expected to go a long way toward settling which favorite in District 13-3M would claim the crown in that division this season.

But they will have to wait at least a few days to settle the outcome.

South Broward took an early advantage, however, when running back Chris Humphrey scored a 1-yard touchdown with five seconds remaining in the first quarter.

But the game was then delayed due to lightning in the area and eventually suspended at that point.

The teams are planning to resume the game Tuesday at 6 p.m. at South Broward High.

Humphrey, a University of Miami commit, was bottled up early on by Krop’s defense until he broke loose for a 33-yard run that set up his score two plays later. He had 51 yards on eight carries.

South Broward (4-0), ranked No. 19 by the Miami Herald in its latest South Florida Top 20 poll, defeated Krop (3-1), ranked 20th, in last season’s meeting. But the Bulldogs were denied a district title when the Lightning won a three-team tiebreaker with them and Hollywood McArthur.

The Lightning put together two solid drives in the first quarter, but each ended with a turnover. Jonathan Ward ripped the ball away from Krop receiver Yvondre Yaccis after he appeared to catch a pass from Jamaal Haggins in traffic over the middle.

The Bulldogs appeared ready to take the lead earlier, but a nice defensive play by Kal Pascal kept the game scoreless at the time. Pascal stripped South Broward receiver Charles Ross on his way to the end zone allowing teammate Keymari Robiou to recover for a touchback.

South Broward’s Terrance Johnson intercepted Haggins on the ensuing drive, leading to the Bulldogs’ lone score.
