Results are in. University School quarterback voted Broward High School Athlete of the Week

NSU University School football standout Jett Yurgealitis is the Broward High School Athlete of the Week, as voted on by readers in our weekly poll.

Yurgealitis, a senior, led the Sharks to a 58-14 victory over Fort Lauderdale Pine Crest last week by throwing five touchdown passes and running for another.

On the season, Yurgealitis has completed 43 of 66 passes for 837 yards and thrown 15 touchdown passes and one interception while leading the Sharks to a 3-0 start.

Plantation American Heritage girls’ cross-country runner Ashley Fitzgerald, Pembroke Pines Charter girls’ volleyball standout Sara Schnell and Southwest Ranches Archbishop McCarthy girls’ golfer Audrey Bacic rounded out this week’s participants.

The Miami Herald Athlete of the Week polls — now one each for Miami-Dade and Broward counties — open Sunday every week and close around 10 p.m. Thursday.
