Poll: Which Broward high school athlete should be the Miami Herald’s Player of the Week? (Sept. 3)
Broward County’s top athletes are already putting together memorable performances as the 2023-24 high school sports season heats up.
This week, we resume a weekly feature where we ask you to vote for the best performer of the week in Broward County high school sports.
Below is a look at the five candidates from last week’s action. Take our poll below to cast your vote. The poll will be open until Thursday, Sept. 7, around 10 p.m.
You may vote as often as you like until then.
Here are the candidates from last week’s events:
▪ Jett Yurgealitis, NSU University, football: Yurgealitis led the Sharks, throwing five touchdown passes and running for another in a 58-14 victory over Fort Lauderdale Pine Crest.
▪ Ashley Fitzgerald, American Heritage, girls’ cross-country: Fitzgerald ran a time of 18:54.42 to win the STU Bobcat Invitational.
▪ Sarah Schnell, Pembroke Pines Charter, girls’ volleyball: Schnell had a combined 23 kills, 23 assists and 15 service points to lead the Jaguars to wins over Coral Springs and Boca Raton Spanish River.
▪ Audrey Bacic, Archbishop McCarthy, girls’ golf: Bacic shot a 34 and earned medalist honors for the Mavericks in a win over Cardinal Gibbons.
