Poll: Which Dade high school athlete should be the Miami Herald’s Player of the Week? (Sept. 3)

Miami-Dade County’s top athletes are already putting together memorable performances as the 2023-24 high school sports season heats up.

This week, we resume a weekly feature where we ask you to vote for the best performer of the week in Miami-Dade County high school sports.

Below is a look at the five candidates from last week’s action. Take our poll below to cast your vote. The poll will be open until Thursday, Sept. 7, around 10 p.m.

You may vote as often as you like until then.

Here are the candidates from last week’s events:

Neimann Lawrence, Ransom Everglades, football: Lawrence completed 17 of 19 passes for 315 yards and threw six touchdown passes to lead the Raiders to a 48-0 win over Pembroke Pines Somerset Academy.

Jarvis Johnson, Westminster Christian, football: Johnson ran for 123 yards and four touchdowns on 10 carries to lead the Warriors to a 32-26 win over Hollywood Avant Garde Academy.

Henry Stark, Palmer Trinity, boys’ cross-country: Stark ran a time of 16:49.31 to win the STU Bobcat Invitational.

Samira Persad, Reagan, girls’ volleyball: Persad totaled 17 kills, 14 digs and four aces to lead the Bison to a four-set win over Miami Beach.

Nicole Macedo, MAST, girls’ swimming: Macedo won the 100 butterfly in 1:06 and the 100 backstroke in 1:06 to lead the Makos to a meet win over Mater Lakes.
