Poll: Which Broward high school athlete should be the Miami Herald’s Player of the Week? (April 30)

Miami-Dade County’s top athletes continue to stand out as we move into the final month of the 2022-23 high school sports spring season.

This week, we continue a weekly feature where we ask you to vote for the best performer of the week in Miami-Dade County high school sports.

Below is a look at the five candidates from last week’s action. Take our poll below to cast your vote. The poll will be open until Thursday, May 4, around 10 p.m.

You may vote as often as you like until then.

Here are the candidates from last week’s events:

Stephanie Basso, Coral Springs Charter, softball: Basso went 3 for 4 with two home runs and four RBI to help the Panthers stay unbeaten and win the BCAA Big 8 championship. Basso was named the tournament’s MVP.

Anthony Quigley, Taravella, baseball: Quigley went 2 for 3 with a double and two RBI in a win over Dade Christian and also hit a home run and pitched six innings, striking out 10 in a win over McArthur.

Jade Shakir, Dillard, girls’ track and field: Shakir swept the discus, shot put and javelin titles at the District 14-3A meet.

Tugg Hollandsworth, Cardinal Gibbons, baseball: Hollandsworth went 3 for 4 with a home run in a win over Pembroke Pines Charter and also went 1 for 3 in a win over St. John Paul II.
