Broward County’s top athletes continue to stand out as we move closer to the final month of the 2022-23 high school sports spring season.

This week, we continue a weekly feature where we ask you to vote for the best performer of the week in Broward County high school sports.

Below is a look at the five candidates from last week’s action. Take our poll below to cast your vote. The poll will be open until Thursday, April 27, around 10 p.m.

You may vote as often as you like until then.

Here are the candidates from last week’s events:

Brandon Ostalaza, Flanagan, baseball: Ostalaza went 2 for 3 with three RBI to lead the Falcons to an upset win over Archbishop McCarthy.

Ian Guevara, Cypress Bay, baseball: Guevara struck out nine over six innings and allowed one earned run and three hits to lead the Lightning to a 2-1 win over Taravella.

Taylor McGovern, Stoneman Douglas, girls’ lacrosse: McGovern scored six goals and had three assists to lead the Eagles to a 12-10 win over Miami Palmetto in the Class 2A regional quarterfinals.

Gabriel Nejad, Cardinal Gibbons, boys’ volleyball: Nejad posted 45 assists to lead the Chiefs to a four-set win over Western.

Michaela Landry, Pine Crest, girls’ tennis: A few days after Landry qualified for state in doubles, she helped her team make it by winning her No. 1 singles match and lead the Panthers to a win over Dreyfoos School.
