Poll: Which Broward high school athlete should be the Miami Herald’s Player of the Week? (April 16)
Miami-Dade County’s top athletes continue to stand out as we begin crowning state champions for the 2022-23 high school sports spring season.
This week, we continue a weekly feature where we ask you to vote for the best performer of the week in Miami-Dade County high school sports.
Below is a look at the five candidates from last week’s action. Take our poll below to cast your vote. The poll will be open until Thursday, April 20, around 10 p.m.
You may vote as often as you like until then.
Here are the candidates from last week’s events:
▪ Daniel Aneja, Coral Springs, baseball: Aneja went 2 for 3 with a triple and three RBI to lead the Colts to a 7-6 win over Mater Lakes.
▪ Dennis Oliveira, Stoneman Douglas, boys’ tennis: Oliveira won the No. 1 singles division in the District 13-4A championship to advance to state.
▪ Megan Rasmussen, Pembroke Pines Charter, softball: Rasmussen went 3 for 4 with three RBI to lead the Jaguars to a 13-6 win over Palm Beach Gardens.
▪ Juhnyee See, Coral Springs Charter, girls’ tennis: See won the No. 1 singles championship in Distrct 14-2A to once again qualify for the state tournament.
▪ Dylan Chaimowicz, St. Thomas Aquinas, boys’ water polo: Chaimowicz finished with a combined six goals and seven assists to lead the Raiders to wins over Boca Raton and Miami Belen Jesuit, which secured the school’s first state championship since 2013.
