Poll: Which Broward high school athlete should be the Miami Herald’s Player of the Week? (April 9)

Broward County’s top athletes continue to shine as we reach the final two months of the 2022-23 high school sports season.

This week, we continue a weekly feature where we ask you to vote for the best performer of the week in Broward County high school sports.

Below is a look at the five candidates from last week’s action. Take our poll below to cast your vote. The poll will be open until Thursday, April 13, around 10 p.m.

You may vote as often as you like until then.

Here are the candidates from last week’s events:

Alex Pena, Western, baseball: Pena tossed a two-hitter, striking out eight and allowing one run in a 3-1 win over Taravella.

Rebekah Harkins, St. Thomas Aquinas, girls’ water polo: Harkins scored 10 goals and had 11 steals and five assists to lead the Raiders to a 24-11 win over Dr. Krop in the regional semifinals.

Nathaneal Coupet, North Broward Prep, baseball: Coupet hit two home runs in the Eagles’ 6-5 win over Gulliver Prep.

Spencer Krasner, American Heritage, baseball: Krasner struck out 10 and tossed a one-hitter to lead the Patriots to a 2-1 win over West Broward.

Destiney Ortega, Pembroke Pines Charter, softball: Ortega gave up two earned runs over seven innings and struck out five and also went 2 for 2 with two RBI at the plate to lead the Jaguars to a 7-3 win over Davie Western.
