Poll: Which Dade high school athlete should be the Miami Herald’s Player of the Week? (April 9)
Miami-Dade County’s top athletes continue to shine as we reach the final two months of the 2022-23 high school sports season.
This week, we continue a weekly feature where we ask you to vote for the best performer of the week in Miami-Dade County high school sports.
Below is a look at the five candidates from last week’s action. Take our poll below to cast your vote. The poll will be open until Thursday, April 13, around 10 p.m.

Here are the candidates from last week’s events:
▪ Alex Allocco, Miami Beach, baseball: Allocco pitched a complete game, striking out four and had two hits to help the Hi-Tides beat top-10 state-ranked Fort Myers Canterbury.
▪ David Davila, Miami Springs, baseball: Davila pitched the final four innings and earned the victory in the Golden Hawks’ 6-4, extra-inning win over Archbishop McCarthy. Davila struck out six and gave up one earned run.
▪ Alexandra Harris, Miami Edison, flag football: Harris ran for the game-winning touchdown in the semifinal round against Killian and later sparked a comeback with another touchdown run in the Red Raiders’ 21-7 win over Central, which secured their third consecutive GMAC championship.
▪ Ana Dal Bo, MAST, girls’ water polo: Dal Bo had 13 saves and held Ransom Everglades to four goals to help the Makos beat the Raiders 5-4 in overtime in a regional semifinal.
▪ Leo Isom, Gulliver, boys’ water polo: Isom had 16 saves in the Raiders’ 10-7 win over Ransom in the regional semifinals.
