Poll: Who are your top Dade high school boys’ and girls’ swimmers for the 2022 season?
The 2022 high school swimming season featured many standout performances once again in Miami-Dade County.
The Miami Herald recently published its All-Dade Swimming team and crowned Braddock’s George Gonzalez and Cutler Bay’s Olivia Dinehart as its Swimmers of the Year. And also named its Coaches of the Year.
This week, the Herald is asking you to vote on who you think was the best overall of those swimmers this season.
Below is a look at the swimmers who earned first team honors this season. Take our poll below to cast your vote. The poll will be open until Wednesday, Jan. 25, around 10 p.m. The highest-voted boy and girl will be declared the winners of this fan vote.

Here are the candidates:
BOYS
▪ Marcelo Mansur, Braddock: Mansur, a junior, finished sixth at state in the 200 freestyle in Class 4A with a time of 1:41.66, sixth at state in the 200 free relay, and also helped the Bulldogs’ 400 free relay secure a state championship.
▪ Robert Alvarez, Braddock: Alvarez, a sophomore, finished 13th at state in the 200 individual medley with a time of 1:56.81 and helped the 200 free relay also finish sixth at state.
▪ Marcoaurelio Lopez-Casula, Miami Beach: Lopez-Casula, a senior, won a state championship in the 50 freestyle with a time of 20.65 seconds.
▪ Dylan Smiley, Miami Country Day: Smiley, a senior, won a state title in the 100 butterfly in 47.15 seconds in Class 1A and also finished third at state in the 100 breaststroke.
▪ George Gonzalez, Braddock: Gonzalez, a sophomore, won a state title in Class 4A in the 100 freestyle in 45.25 seconds and was part of a state championship 400 free relay while helping the 200 medley relay finish third at state.
▪ Dylan Ferguson, Braddock: Ferguson, a sophomore, finished fifth at state in the 500 freestyle with a time of 4:34.95 and led the Bulldogs to a state runner-up finish as a team.
▪ Anthony Pineiro, Braddock: Pineiro, a freshman, finished seventh at state with a time of 51.16 and was part of the Bulldogs’ 400 free relay state championship squad and a third-place 200 medley relay.
GIRLS
▪ Madeline Smutny, Cutler Bay: Smutny, a senior, finished fourth at state in Class 1A in the 500 freestyle with a time of 4:57.72 and seventh at state with a time of 1:53.44.
▪ Olivia Dinehart, Cutler Bay: Dinehart, a senior, won a state title in the 100 breaststroke in 1:01.60 and finished sixth at state in the 200 IM in 2:04.26.
▪ Sofia Jorge, Ferguson: Jorge, a freshman, finished third at state in Class 4A with a time of 54.96 seconds and seventh at state in the 50 free in 23.65 seconds.
▪ Hannah Webb, Miami Country Day: Webb, a sophomore, finished 12th at state in Class 1A in the 100 freestyle with a time of 52.55 seconds.
▪ Elena Dinehart, Cutler Bay: Dinehart, a senior, finished 10th at state in Class 1A in the 100 breaststroke in 57.23 seconds.
