Poll: Which Dade high school athlete should be the Miami Herald’s Player of the Week? (Jan. 15)
Several of Miami-Dade County’s top athletes kept delivering in big games in multiple winter sports this past week.
This week, we continue a weekly feature where we ask you to vote for the best performer of the week in Miami-Dade County high school sports.
Below is a look at the five candidates from last week’s action. Take our poll below to cast your vote. The poll will be open until Thursday, Jan. 19, around 10 p.m.

Here are the candidates from last week’s events:
▪ Mathew Brid, Miami Beach, boys’ soccer: Brid’s shot from 35 yards out provided the lone goal in Miami Beach’s 1-0 win over Columbus, securing the Hi-Tides’ first GMAC championship since 1999.
▪ Stevie Ricklick, Palmetto, girls’ soccer: Ricklick made two clutch saves in penalty kicks and recorded a shutout to help the Panthers beat South Dade and repeat as GMAC champions.
▪ Sofia Travieso, Carrollton, girls’ basketball: Travieso scored 43 points, setting the single-game scoring record for the school while also totaling 10 rebounds and three blocks against St. Brendan.
▪ Daniel Ribeiro, Ransom Everglades, boys’ basketball: Ribeiro had 32 points and six rebounds to help the Raiders secure a 68-67 victory over Coral Reef.
