Poll: Which Broward high school athlete should be the Miami Herald’s Player of the Week? (Jan. 8)
Several of Broward County’s top athletes kept delivering in big games in multiple winter sports during holiday tournaments and classics.
This week, we continue a weekly feature where we ask you to vote for the best performer of the week in Broward County high school sports.
Below is a look at the five candidates from last week’s action. Take our poll below to cast your vote. The poll will be open until Thursday, Jan. 12, around 10 p.m.

Here are the candidates from last week’s events:
▪ George Sterr, Archbishop McCarthy, boys’ basketball: Sterr nearly had a triple-double, scoring 17 points, and finishing with 12 rebounds and nine assists as well as four steals in a win over Community School of Naples at the ninth annual Don Stewart Invitational.
▪ Lena Girardi, Westminster Academy, girls’ basketball: Girardi totaled 21 points in a 41-34 win over Miami High and also played a key role in a win over Batavia (IL) at the SUTS Report New Year’s Classic.
▪ Jasleen Green, American Heritage, girls’ basketball: Green scored 21 points including 17 in the second half in a win over North Broward Prep.
▪ Rafael Guerra, NSU University School, boys’ soccer: Guerra tallied a goal and an assist in a win over Archbishop McCarthy and also scored a goal in a win over Ransom Everglades.
