Poll: Which Dade high school athlete should be the Miami Herald’s Player of the Week? (Oct. 30)
As we get closer to the football playoffs, the other fall sports moved deeper into their postseasons and Miami-Dade County’s top athletes continued to shine.
This week, we continue a weekly feature where we ask you to vote for the best performer of the week in Miami-Dade County high school sports.
Below is a look at the five candidates from last week’s action. Take our poll below to cast your vote. The poll will be open until Thursday, Nov. 3, around 10 p.m.
You may vote as often as you like until then.
Here are the candidates from last week’s events:
▪ Taron Dickens, Miami Northwestern, football: Dickens threw for three touchdown passes and 281 yards to lead the Bulls to a 44-0 win over Miami La Salle and break the Miami-Dade County all-time passing record.
▪ Julius Pascal, Miami Dr. Krop, football: Pascal ran for 89 yards and the game-winning touchdown which led the Lightning to a crucial 20-16 district win over Hollywood McArthur.
▪ Carola Rodriguez, Divine Savior, girls’ volleyball: Rodriguez totaled 21 kills and 13 digs to lead the Sharks to a four-set win over Hollywood Chaminade in a Region 4-3A semifinal.
▪ Emma Hencock, St. Brendan, girls’ cross country: Hencock won the Region 4-2A individual championship with a time of 18:05.7.
▪ Remi Bacardi, Palmer Trinity, girls’ golf: Bacardi shot a 66 - the lowest round among all girls golfers in Dade or Broward Counties during districts — to win the District 16-1A individual title.
