Mike Kypriss and Carmen Jackson each now stand among the all-time greats nationwide among high school coaches.

The two Miami-Dade County coaching legends were honored on Tuesday night as both were inducted into the National High School Coaches Association Hall of Fame at a ceremony in Des Moines, Iowa.

It is the second such honor in recent years for Kypriss, who led his boys’ and girls’ tennis teams to a total of 17 state championships during his combined tenure at Miami Killian and Dr. Krop.

Jackson, who has coached for over three decades, has led the Miami Northwestern girls’ track and field team to 18 state championships and has the Bulls on one of the longest active title streaks in the nation in any sport.

Northwestern won its 13th consecutive state team championship this past May.

Over her three-plus decades, Jackson has mentored hundreds of athletes, many of whom have gone on to compete at the college and pro level.

Kypriss has coached in Florida for more than four decades and is currently the head tennis coach at Nease High in St. Augustine where he has coached since 2016. He was also recently inducted into the Florida Athletic Coaches Association’s Hall of Fame class in 2020.

Kypriss was named the National High School Federation’s Coach of the Year in 2006, the United States Professional Tennis Registry Coach of the Year in 2009 and the National High School Athletic Coaches Association Coach of the Year in tennis in 2015.
