Region QF wins for Homestead, Somerset, Western flag football & Ferguson, Flanagan volleyball
The Western girls’ flag football team remained unbeaten, now at 15-0, with a dominating victory over St. Thomas Aquinas in a 2A region quarterfinal.
In a tough region quarterfinal battle, Homestead edged Cypress Bay 6-0 in overtime to advance while also handing the Lightning their first loss. Delexis McCall caught the winning TD pass from Shamaya Williams.
In Class 1A, Edison won a close contest over Killian, and Somerset Academy-Silver Palms also advanced with a region quarterfinal victory. The Red Raiders and the Stallions only have one loss each.
Boys’ volleyball entered regional play, too, while baseball and softball began their district tournaments. Plus, lacrosse and sand volleyball teams competed for state titles in an extra busy week of post-season action in multiple sports.

Boys’ volleyball
Cardinal Gibbons boys’ volleyball continues to impress with a region quarterfinal win to improve to 25-2.
Flanagan (17-3) is also impressive, advancing as well with a region quarterfinal victory, and St. Thomas Aquinas (7-11) is rolling, getting hot at the right time.
Belen Jesuit, Ferguson and Southwest are doing well, too.
