Cardinal Gibbons girls’ lacrosse starts strong. History for True North baseball and more scores

What a turnaround from last season for the Cardinal Gibbons girls’ lacrosse team.

Last season the Chiefs won two of 13 games. This season they are 7-0.

Coach Megan Renne said: “Our turnaround is all thanks to the spectacular group of girls this year. From losing 15 seniors in 2020, mostly starters, we have had to really rebuild these past two seasons.”

Renne continued: “The girls are very focused and came in with the mindset to win this year. Our seniors are the driving force of the team, between Makenna Conley (who has 43 goals this season), Emma Neclerio (who has 77 saves) and Cam Fasano (who is a ‘beast’ with interceptions and vital in the transitions), they are leading the team this year. We also have a strong junior class that is making a huge impact on our level of play. Between our draw master, Jenna Haupert, and our legs in the midfield, Ashley Brooks and Audrey Kurdziel, they are a huge reason for our success this season.”

Renne is in her sixth season coaching the Chiefs. A former Cardinal Gibbons lacrosse player, she planned to coach one season between college and finding employment. That changed, and thus, she is doing a good job charging the girls’ lacrosse program.

Renne said: “It’s super special to be a part of and grow a program at a school that fostered my love for the sport. Couldn’t be more honored to be their coach.”

This marks the best start for Cardinal Gibbons while under the direction of Renne.
