LaSalle sailing wins two more regattas. Krop softball wins twice. Plus baseball, tennis & more
The LaSalle sailing team dominated another district sailing regatta, besting a fleet of 18 varsity high school teams from around Florida and two from the U.S. Virgin Islands to win the South Atlantic Interscholastic Sailing Association (SAISA) South Points No. 5, hosted by Ransom Everglades in Miami.
In addition to winning the overall event, LaSalle also won the A and B varsity divisions and the JV regatta. LaSalle finished with 45 total points and a 21-point lead over runner-up Ransom Everglades.
Injured senior Justin Callahan, who is coaching the team, said: “We train hard all year long, and I’m pleased that we were again able to execute with success during this competitive event. I know we have the talent to win nationals in June; so this was one more step on that journey.”
A DIVISION: Mitchell Callahan (senior) and Caroline Caudron (junior) in the A boat were low point team for the regatta with 20 points over seven races and a 10-point lead over the second place boat.
B DIVISION: Umi Noritake (sophomore) with Holland Ramos (junior) and Soleil Aurignac (freshman) again earned the lowest points in B Division with 25 points.

JUNIOR VARSITY: ILS decisively won the JV regatta with 21 total points in 14 races, earning 10 bullets (1st place finishes) and three 2nd place finishes. Keith Grupenhoff (freshman) was the skipper for both A & B with Caro Estrada (freshman) and Emely Tamayo (sophomore) as crew.

LaSalle followed up with another district win, topping a fleet of 16 varsity high school teams in Tampa.
In addition to winning the overall event, LaSalle also won the A and B varsity divisions for the third consecutive event. LaSalle finished the day with 42 total points and a healthy lead over second place.
Justin Callahan said: “Winning our third consecutive regatta solidifies ILS finishing the season as district leaders with one district regatta left in the season. We are on track with our overall goal to win the district qualifier and then return to nationals again this year.”
