The Miami Palmetto girls’ soccer team won the District 16-7A Championship by beating Coral Reef 5-0.
Junior Jasyn Altchek scored twice, and junior Natalia Concha, junior Vanessa Zenan and sophomore Catherine Green each had one goal.
Goalkeepers Kaela Elmer (junior) and Sami Anes (sophomore) combined on the shutout.
The champion Panthers (15-2-1) and runner-up Coral Reef (11-5) advance to regionals.

District 16-4A
The Gulliver Prep girls’ soccer team edged MAST 1-0 in double overtime to successfully defend its district title.
Ariana Hernando scored the winner late in the first overtime. It was her seventh goal of the season. Keeper Ana Levy-Armesto totaled five saves en route to her seventh shutout.
The Raiders (10-10-3) host a regional quarterfinal on Tuesday. MAST also advances, traveling for a region quarterfinal.

District 16-3A
The Palmer Trinity girls’ soccer team won the District 16-3A Championship by defeating Ransom Everglades 3-1.
Jessica Leathe scored twice and Angelica Deribeaux once. Scarlett Baur had an assist.
Mather Davidson scored off an assist from Lua Balestra to give Ransom a 1-0 lead in the first half. Deribeaux evened things off a corner kick by Bauer. Leathe later scored the winner on a direct kick.
In the second half, Leathe added an insurance goal with a curving corner kick.
The champion Falcons (9-2-1) and runner-up Ransom Everglades (12-6-1) qualified for the region quarterfinals on Tuesday. Palmer Trinity also beat Ransom Everglades earlier in the season.

District 15-3A
The LaSalle girls’ soccer team edged Miami Country Day on penalty kicks to win the District 15-3A Championship.
The Spartans scored first off a corner kick in the 17th minute. Jasmine Gutierrez tied the game for LaSalle in the 77th minute off an assist from Deanna Prieto to force overtime. After two scoreless overtime sessions, PKs determined the winner.
In the shootout, Valentina Mangles, Rebecca Baldelomar, Gutierrez and keeper Ashley Fonseca scored as the Royal Lions outscored Miami Country Day 4-2.
LaSalle (11-5-3) and the Spartans (4-12-2) advance to the region quarterfinals.

Boys’ Soccer
District 15-3A Semifinal: Miami Country Day 2, SLAM 1: Agustin Kohen assisted both goals for the regional qualifying Spartans (8-8-1). He set the table for goal scorers Lucas Hansen and Enzo LaGrassa.
Norman Alvarez scored for SLAM (6-8-3).
Miami Country Day plays region qualifier LaSalle for the district title. The Royal Lions (9-1-3) beat Edison in the other district semifinal and defeated Miami Country Day earlier in the season.
District 16-3A Semifinal: Ransom Everglades 6, Keys Gate 0: The Raiders (13-1-3) qualified for regionals by advancing to the district final.
Caleb Carlson had two goals, and Christian Sosa recorded one goal and one assist. Felipe De Cardenas, Frankie Pines and Nicholas Sosa also scored. Christian Gardner, Kobe Lopez, David Pulido and Juan Rivera added assists. Keepers Jasper Broad and Martin Piedrahita combined on the shutout.
Keys Gate finished the season 8-4-1.
District 15-7A Semifinal: Columbus 2, Miami Beach 0: Junior Jacob Marino and sophomore Javi Voigt each scored with assists from sophomore Javi Voigt and junior Cris Pico.
Senior goalkeeper Alejandro Garcia made seven saves to record the shutout with solid support from junior Matthew Pico.
The Explorers (11-3-4) qualified for regionals. Miami Beach ended its run at 14-3-1, tying Columbus earlier in the season.

When Cardinal Gibbons won the BCAA Wrestling Tournament at Pompano Beach High School, it marked the program’s 23rd BCAA wrestling team title. Quite the accomplishment.

Cypress Bay had another good showing with a runner-up finish. The Lightning were led by one of the tournament’s Most Outstanding Wrestler award winners, Gabe Herrero.

Plus, at the tournament, Bobby Stanley, Jorge Badia, Scott Sodegren, Paul Weiss, and Paul Marcello were inducted into the Broward County Wrestling Hall of Fame.
